Well - this peep is pooped. Extremely eventful weekend... First Emily came home with three prescription drugs a friend gave her on the bus. They were wrapped in saran wrap so the kids didn't know what they were.
Then we found our that my cousin Kurt - the one who got married at the end of June with the huge wedding on Candlewood lake - is getting divorced. Apparently Jen doesn't love him anymore. Can you believe it? They closed on a new house the day after Jeannine's funeral - his sister. How much can that family take! So I had Kaitlyn, Jeannines daughter, sleep over all weekend. We put up the tree and tried to do normal stuff. It was emotionally draining for me. She seemed fine but then Jay came to pick her up and needed someone to talk to so he stayed for hours talking about Jeannine. The one person the Kaithlyn bonded with during the whole ordeal was Jen and now somehow Jay has to tell her that Jen is leaving her life also.
So on a positive note, the tree is up, house is decorated, cards are ordered and shopping is in good shape. Just a few things to go. Ed's mother is coming this weekend so we will get that charade over with before the holidays begin.
Dan - have you talked to your mom today? I heard something about homicides in Old Saybrook.
On the positive side: Norb and I took Friday off and did most of our Christmas shopping. We bought a fake tree this year but we still need to decorate. Norb put up the lights outside and we have a motorcycle santa and shrek santa inflatable. We haven't done our cards yet either. On the not so positive side: My sister-in-law told me that Norb's parents hated me and that she and her sister tried to convince them not to. Yet, when she and her sister were discussing the jewelry that was left by his mother I was not considered part of the family as it was meant for Norb's former wife and should now go to Norb's son and his wife and not me.
Also, one of my coworkers passed away. He died suddenly in a car accident. He was 48 with 2 kids. They are collecting $ for the kids. What is etiquitte on how much to give?
Lynn, Is she (Jen) the one with the curly hair, drill sargeant-like? What a @$#%@ !! How selfish, especially since she knows how close Kaitlyn is to her. What the hell is she thinking? How do you fall out of love in a matter of months?
And Nance,
There is no exact etiquette in the anount of money one gives. Since it's in lieu of flowers you might send in a donation to equal how much you would have spent on flowers but since it's going to the kids I'd do at least $100.
I got a 96 on my final exam and therefore passed the class. I take the certification exam Sat and I'm done, in every sense of the word.
On the other hand, my xmas shopping is not done, I haven't even taken the xmas picture and I only have 3 more actual non-working days to get this all done in.
I hear you can get a personal assistant for cheap in India and they'll take care of all your business. I kinda like that...
Nancy, How sad. I have been the one depositing the money in the bank for my jeannine's kids and the checks range from $10 to $500. It's all about what you can afford to give. I would say $50 is a nice donation. What my cousin's company did was run a raffle and charged $10 per ticket. The CEO donated a flat screen TV and some other smaller gift. They raised over $10,000 this way. (Just a thought)
On the Norb family topic, I wouldn't worry. I don't remember Norb's mother being alive - but you certainly did enough for his father. THey probably really loved his first wife and you could have been princess diana and they still wouldn't have liked you.
Dan - yes, she was the curly headed one at my sister's shower barking orders.
All is well except Sophie is peeing blood. Can you catch a UTI from a cat??? My dad is taking her to the vet this afternoon. Her goes another $1000 vet bill...
I've just been very busy. Night ends this week. We did the church pageant on Sunday plus Gerri b-day. Got the tree on Saturday. The shopping is done, thank goodness and hopefully next week will be quiet.
I have a babysitter for the 28th!!
Lynn - Mom needs Senekot and Colase(sp)...she needs to poop! How is parking at the train station?
We are going to Maury tomorrow...the boys and I. No not for their paternity, it is a show with Jack Hanna (the animal guy).
Phil's been limping for a good 6 weeks now and we ran out ideas (treatments) of what we thought was wrong (ligmanets/pulled muscles etc...) so he had his appt yesterday with the pediatrician and had labs & x-ray. So today we find out he probably has what's called Legg-Caff Perthes disease. I actually had it when I was 3 or 4 which wasn't so bad since I was so young I can't remember it. I always said to my mother it my worst fear that one of my kids would have it and now it's Phil.
We go to CT Children's Medical Center for an appt with an orthopaedic surgeon on Dec 31st. We're trying to get an MRI done before so we can go equipped with all information. I'm not sure is the treatment anymore but when I was little it was these god awful A-type braces that you were in for years. (going treatment is 2 yrs). I think now reading on line they do surgury in some instances. The least/best thing we can pray for is just crutches but I doubt that will be us. They want to get us in pretty quick before it progresses any farther. I'll know better what we're doing after the new year.
When God spits on you he really spits...At least you don't (as far as I know) die from this which was the other worry that it was a myeloproliferative bone disease (some kind of bone leukemia) so we do have that going for us.
Christmas shopping is still not done but it's going to be what it is. I did pick up our xmas cards today. Those should be out by next February. I'm going to see if my mom can't take the kids around the 26th or whenever that was for dinner. They were going to go on Dec 31st. but I'd rather have them all home for New years. I hear Govt. Mule is playing the city new years eve. I suspect you'll be there Lynn.
It could be so much worse. I only think of jeanine and her kids and it puts it into perspective.

Dan - You Rock! 96 is awesome. You should do fine on the certification. Congrats
Dan: Great job!
Lynn/Dan: Thanks for the advice on what to give.
Lynn:
My dog was peeing blood too at one point...I don't think it will be a $1,000...it should be less.
Going rate for peeing blood in Monroe - $80.00.
The veterinarian gods were with me today.
I love you guys!
Congrats to Dan!! Good news about blood/urine.

Hi Peeps, we had a bad day.

Dan: Sorry to hear about Phil...It sounds like you are taking all the right steps and you are right it could be much worse.
