OMG - So sorry about everything. Is there anything we can do? Is Norb OK. Are you OK? That was much too much bad news for one blog! When did the bike accident happen? Are you in pain. Can you work?
We are thinking about you and Norb. Please let me know if you need anything.
Nance, I'm so sorry to hear about Norb's dad. How are you holding up with broken bones? You need to go see a orthopaedist and get a real "boot" cast on that foot. It'll stabilize your foot so it won't move around (that is if you're still wearing the light blue laced boot you get in the er). If you do have a tight boot on I'd say a good six weeks with it on (and yes I actually did that) before you get it x-rayed again to find if the bones are healing properly. There's a naturopathic herb you can also take to help speed along the healing process but I'll have to think of the name. It's a little pill that you dissolve under your tongue just before you eat.
I'm working on mark and the cat. I'd really like to take her. I'll let you know. Take care and hang in there. So much bad news in a very short time. Like Lynn & Deb, if you need anything just call.
Actually, on Sunday, I was making a left hand turn in North Street Shopping Center and slowed down to no speed which is a "no no" in a turn and then just fell over to the left. I stupidly kept my foot on the bike and did not put it out or anything. It was just plain stupid. I didn't think I hurt myself that bad and so Norb rode home and came back with car. I went home and iced the foot. Then Maggie came over and I played guitar. My thumb hurt at first but I didn't think anything of it. I went to work Monday wearing sneakers and made an appointment with an orthopedic to just double check that nothing was broken. He told me I had four broken bones in my foot and one in my thumb. He gave me the infamous blue boot and a velcro contraption for my thumb. I am actually not in as much pain as I thought I would be. I have a follow up appt next Thursday to find out if I can play in my two gigs next weekend or not.
Norb is doing fine. It is sort of a relief except now he has to sell the trailer in Florida and empty it. My 93 year old friend Marie who stood up for me @ my wedding wants me to sell the motorcycle. I have to admit that my confidence is a little shot but I really was enjoying it and I don't think my boss, Terri, or Norb will let me quit, anyway.
